Please make sure the hardware and tools we provided will be right for your install (read the means & methods disclaimer). IT IS POSSIBLE YOU NEED DIFFERENT HARDWARE & METHODS.

Please take your time to do your installation. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with the installation, we highly recommend hiring a licensed and bonded contractor.

CAUTION Cut the rail short, not long

Measure and cut the top rail and the middle rail to the measured length MINUS 1/4". A rail cut to the exact measurement will not seat in the connector.

Installing the wall extension

Measure the rails

For the top rail, measure from inside the connector to the wall. For the middle rail, measure from the post to the wall. Cut the measured length minus 1/4" for both rails.

Remove the end cap and insert the adjustable connector

Remove the top rail end cap, and insert the adjustable connector.

Bring the top rail to horizontal and mark the wall

Insert the top rail into the connector and bring it down to the horizontal position — use a leveler — then mark the position of the bottom of the rail on the wall with a pencil.

Set the wall bracket

Position the wall bracket aligned with the marking and mark the 2 holes with a pencil. Next, drill and secure it by inserting screws — see the drilling guide below.

Insert the top rail and the wall connection cover

Insert the top rail, slide the wall connection cover into the rail with the thin side facing in, and let the handrail rest horizontally on the wall bracket. Now insert two self-drilling screws through the wall bracket and into the handrail to secure it in place.

Fit the middle rail bracket at the post

For the middle rail, position the bracket directly opposite the handrail’s middle railing bracket. Secure it with two self-drilling screws.

Set the middle rail wall bracket

Insert the middle rail into the bracket, mark the horizontal position on the wall using a leveler, and install the wall bracket for the middle rail. For the drilling instructions, see the drilling guide below.

Secure the rails

Secure the rail using the self-drilling screws provided. For the top rail connector, use 2 screws on each end on the bottom side. For the middle rail bracket, use 1 screw on the narrow side. Screw in tight enough that the screw head meets the metal.

Masonry

(1) Using the provided masonry drill bit, drill holes into the two spots previously marked with your pencil. (2) Hammer in the provided masonry wall anchors. (3) Using the screws provided with the masonry wall anchors, put a washer onto the screw and secure the bracket in place.

Wood

Using the screws provided with the masonry wall anchors — but WITHOUT using the anchor — put a washer onto the screw and secure the bracket in place.
