Some of the questions you might have when it comes to changing the color of our black CR Handrail:
Yes, you can paint over the black powder coated surface. Primer is always needed for best bond adhesion. Either spray paint and brush will work.
The reason why we exclusively use power coat is because of the best finish powder coat delivers. You can read what is powder coating in another blog post here.
You can go to a local powder coating shop to sand blast all the finish off and redo the paint. This is the best way to change the color for the long run. Each piece/part will cost anywhere from $10-$25 depending on the size and company you use.
Note: CR Handrail do not offer color customization unless it is for a large commercial project with a 5 month lead time. CR Handrail ONLY offers 10% gloss powder coated black.
If you like to keep the cost down, here's what we suggest: get a self itching primer and a small can of quality exterior paint (your local paint store will be best able to advise you based on local laws & climate recommendation).
Spray paint will provide the best finish but does require some skills to do this without having drips/legs.
Roller/paint brush with a can of paint is easiest to apply but will not provide as smooth of a finish.
