The flat straight connection type applies to layouts where you’re connecting rails on any flat surface—ramps, landings, decks, patios—in a continuous direction. As long as there isn’t any change in slope between the first railing and the second railing, our Straight Fixed Top Rail Connector will work fine.

Straight Cable Rail Post with Top Rail + Straight Cable Rail Post with Top Rail
The incline & flat straight connection type applies to layouts involving a stairs transitioning into a flat landing, with the rails maintaining the same direction all throughout.

Stair Handrail Kit + Guard Rails with Post and Top Rails
Straight Cable Rail Post with Top Rail + Straight Cable Rail Post with Top Rail
The incline & flat straight turn connection applies to layouts involving a stairs transitioning into a flat landing, with the rails pivoting into a left or right turn.
Examples:
Stair Handrail Kit + Horizontal Handrail Kit
Stair Handrail Kit + Guard Rail Kit
Stair Handrail Kit + Guard Rails with Post and Top Rails

The flat bend connection type refers to connections on flat surfaces that aren’t continuous or straight nor an exact 90 deg. turn. Example use-cases would be uniquely-shaped decks or acute turns.

Horizontal Handrail Kit + Horizontal Handrail Kit
Guard Rails with Post and Top Rails + Guard Rails with Post and Top Rails

Straight Cable Rail Post with Top Rail + Straight Cable Rail Post with Top Rail
The flat turn connection type refers to layouts involving connecting rails that turn on any flat surface—landings, decks, patios. We currently have two options for this connection type and the only difference is the aesthetic. Each requires a different type of cut (the standard works with the usual cut, but the slim variant requires a 45 deg cut).

Horizontal Handrail Kit + Horizontal Handrail Kit
Guard Rails with Post and Top Rails + Guard Rails with Post and Top Rails

This type of connection is for when you want your rails to terminate into a wall. Depending on the measurements of your layout, this might involve some cutting, and you will be using the Top Rail, Middle Rail and up to 1 Post from your Flat Rail Kit
Our new connectors now have an outer lip to cover rough edges or exposed metal from any cutting. This prevents any cuts or accidents while providing a smooth transition from rail to rail.
Made with high-grade plastic
We opted to use top-notch Polypropylene for our connectors, ensuring high durability and impact strength. Coupled with our powder-coated railings, you won’t have to deal with peeling, flaking or rusting for your system!
Engineered for complete modularity
The new Top Rail Connector’s sloped insert makes it easier to slot and secure. Our Top Rails (compatible with our Cable Rail Posts and Plain Posts and included with our Kits) are uniform and work with all our connectors.
FAQs
I want to install my railings before my connectors arrive. How do I go about this?
Depending on the type of connection and your layout, the distance will vary. However, the tolerance for any discrepancies or errors is only 1/4".
However, we suggest for you to wait for all parts and rails to arrive before you begin installing the railing system as the top rail positioning will determine where posts will be placed. Repositioning the posts, once installed, will also require more effort. As such, for the smoothest installation experience, we recommend that you wait for the top rail connectors so you can fit out the top rails and position the posts accordingly.
Will the connectors work with my custom top rail?
Our newly designed Top Rail Connectors are made to fit ONLY with CR Fence & Rail’s rectangular Top Rails.
What do I need to install these connectors?
Aside from our Top Rail Connector - Wall Connector, which requires you to attach a bracket to the wall, all our other connectors were engineered to simply be slotted in our Top Rails. No additional screws or steps needed.
In some cases, however, you might need to cut your top rails in order to get everything to fit right and avoid any rails from jutting out unnecessarily. You may read more about the process here.
Can I return the extra leftover items from my kit after installation?
No, we do not accept leftover items as returns, since we cannot repackage them and they will end up in a landfill.
Do the connectors work with all your products?
The Top Rail Connectors are made to fit all CR Fence & Rail-made Top Rails ONLY. However, the appropriate connector will change on a case-to-case basis, depending on the layout of the rails you are going to be connecting.
Can I install my railings without these connectors?
Technically you can. However, our connectors not only enhance the aesthetic of your rails to make it look seamless, it also fills in gaps that may cause accidents.
Will these connectors work with my oval Top Rails?
These Top Rail Connectors are only for our new rectangle Top Rails. If you own our oval Top Rails and need oval Top Rail Connectors, click here.

We liked this stair rail so much, we ordered another one for the side of our porch. Everyone you need is included in the pkg. and assembly is easy.

Love the kit
I really like that the kits come with all the tools needed to assemble the handrails.
In my application I needed to add cement footings for the lower post attachment points. I dug down below the frost line and used 8” diameter Quick-Tubes filled with cement. After the cement cured for 2 days I attached the hand rails.

5 kits of 5-step Handrails for landscape steps
We have a 22-foot run of concrete stairs coming up a hillside with a 9-foot elevation gain. The stairway has a bend in the middle, then runs at a diagonal to the top. We ran 2 kits in a straight line, added a pivoting connector and ran 3 more kits at the diagonal. The kits connected easily and we were happy that we could keep the top rails aligned so well. I had never drilled holes in concrete and had never cut metal on my chop saw before but it all come out great.
